Healdsburg Wild Steelhead Festival
Celebrate the Return of Wild Steelhead to the Russian River
The Redwood Empire Chapter of Trout Unlimited is co-sponsoring the second annual Healdsburg Wild Steelhead Festival in the heart of Sonoma County’s Wine Country: February 6-8, 2009.
- The Wild Steelhead Festival brings public awareness to this threatened species. The Russian River once hosted the 3rd-largest steelhead run in California, attracting anglers from around the world. The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors declared February “Steelhead Month” and established a commitment to restore a run of 50,000 wild steelhead in the Russian River.
- We invite you to celebrate the annual return of the wild steelhead with us and to learn more about the benefits they bring to our community and the efforts being made to enhance their natural habitat.
- The festival kicks off with the Steelhead Gala Dinner to be held Friday, February 6th, at the Dry Creek Kitchen; a sumptuous feast prepared by world famous Chef Charlie Palmer.
- Saturday, February 7th, will be the main event in the Plaza in Downtown Healdsburg, 9am-5pm. This fun day will feature educational exhibits, a trout pond for young anglers, a fly fishing demonstration pond with tips from the pros, fishing gear and boats, art, cooking demos, music, wine tasting, and more.
- Sunday, February 8th will offer shuttles to the hatchery and to view fish at local spots in the area. Fishing guides are also available to book for day trips.
- Respect, restore and celebrate wild steelhead with us in Healdsburg. See the schedule of events, book your accommodations, and find more info about the Healdsburg Wild Steelhead Festival.
